We are delighted to announce the first of our "mini-conferences" as part of the review of the Research Framework. These online only events are to allow as wide an audience as possible to join in with discussion on each of the Research Framework themes.
First up will be Dr Elizabeth Walker on Wednesday 30th March from 5pm to 7pm discussing the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic in Wales, followed by 3 short case studies. Then the virtual floor will be opened for what we hope will be a lively and productive dialogue.
Booking is via this link and we are asking for a donation rather than a fixed fee - it can be as small or as large as you like.

AGM 2020

The Research Framework AGM will be on Monday 14th December 2020 at 10am via Zoom and a link will be sent out to all members in the week beforehand.  If you aren't a member yet, it's easy to fill out our online form

Membership Form

Nomination forms to stand as a trustee at the AGM will be sent out shortly.   All trustees retire at every AGM but are eligible to stand as trustee again.

There should be between 3 and 10 trustees at any one time.  The trustees may appoint up to 2 additional trustees during the year so long as numbers do not exceed 10.

The roles of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are assigned by the trustees at their first committee meeting after the AGM.

Membership Form

Things have been quiet on the Research Framework front for a while but we have been sorting things out in the background.  We can now say that the Research Framework for the Archaeology of Wales is a separately constituted group with its own bank account.  The committee is currently made up of members of CIfA Cymru/Wales and we will have an AGM in a couple of months.

As the next step we need to establish a membership to support the Research Framework.  We can't offer much in the way of benefits of membership at present, it's more about what you can offer the Research Framework but you would be able to attend Steering Group meetings.  Steering Group meetings will continue to offer direction to the committee.

If you would like to be a Member of the Research Framework please fill in the application form available through this link

If you have any problems with the form please email members@archaeoleg.org.uk

Getting Answers: promotion and application of the research agenda

The final session at the Research Framework conference will be looking at Getting Answers, how do we promote and apply the research agenda

This session will share best practice in using the Research Framework in our work. Martin Locock will review the English and Scottish frameworks and how they have been implemented and evaluated, and then explore a maturity model of what a framework integrated into practice would look like. He  will highlight the interaction between the framework and discussions of significance and value, and the need for public engagement activities and CPD to maintain a link to current research questions. Then we will assess how well the framework is currently being used and share examples of best practice.
